I'm down to take care of your body, exercise and try to eat healthy, but I think a lot of people just take it to extremes these days! Like, you don't have to work out 3 hours every single day to be healthy. If working out that much makes you really happy, by all means, do it! But that just isn't for me. This post is for anyone feeling in a little bit of a rut on the healthy scale. 5 easy tricks to make you feel healthier!
1. Drink 1 glass of lemon water each day- Everyone knows water is healthy for the body, obviously. So start your day out with one big cup and squeeze a little lemon in there. Lemons are really good for you. They boost your immune system with their antiviral and antibacterial properties. They obtain citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, and lots of other goodness that is great at nourishing the ol' bod. Lemons also help the digestive system and help cleanse the liver; which supposedly helps with weight loss--which are the magic words people want to hear. Lemon water in the morning does the body good! Do it!
2. Floss- Plain and simple, your mouth will feel nice and pretty after you brush and floss! I don't know why flossing is so hard for some people. I'm one of those people. It's not hard though, it just has some stigma attached to it--like it takes you an hour to do, when you can actually floss faster than you can brush. Try to floss, you'll be proud of yourself and your mouth will thank you. Flossing helps prevent more serious disease too--according to the "professionals."
3. Moisturize- I don't think I have the best skin, but strangely, I get quite a few compliments on it. My advice would be to moisturize. Your skin will feel rejuvenated, not to mention, I think, moisturizing plays a big factor in aging gracefully. Your skin will thank you in the long run if you start moisturizing today and continue to do it everyday. Thanks to my mom, I've been moisturizing since I was about 16 years old. I'm now 25, have two kids, and could probably still pass for about 19 or 20. Thanks Aveeno! Don't forget to moisturize those lips as well--Vaseline works wonders!
4. Brush your hair and maintain your eyebrows- I grew up with a bunch of dudes, needless to say, I didn't brush my hair every morning. I threw it in a pony tail or thought it looked brushed enough, it didn't actually need brushing. Who would have thought brushing your hair is actually good for it? Ha! It really does work wonders. Your hair will feel silky soft after a good brushing. Now on to eyebrows--everyone has different, naturally, shaped eyebrows and I think you should work off the natural shape. Don't go plucking away trying to reshape them into something you think will look better. Your eyebrows fit your face perfectly! That's why they're on your face. So just keep them nice and trimmed. Eye brows frame your face; they're kind of like the front yard of the house. You could have the nicest house, but if your front lawn is overgrown, no one notices! Keep those eye brows lookin' fresh so everyone can see that beautimous face of yours!
5. Create a routine incorporating all of the above- I usually do this all at night. (I brush my hair and teeth in the morning too, obviously). Each night after my shower; I drink a glass of lemon water, brush and floss my teeth, moisturize (lotion) the whole bod- face and lips included, brush my hair, and pluck a few random eye brow hairs trying to go rogue! Each night I feel like crisp, clean, and healthy! You could do this in the morning too, but nights just work better for me, once my 'chillins' are in bed.
Make yourself a little routine to devote a smidgen of time to keep your body feeling like you care about it. Kind of like oil in your car. You don't want to start moisturizing when you start to notice deep creases in your forehead or pluck your eyebrows when you have a full blown uni! It's easier to maintain a little each day. Here's to bein' healthy the healthy way!
